PBB Participates in the 34th Biennial National Convention of the FFCCCII

April 8, 2025

The Federation of Filipino-Chinese Chambers of Commerce and Industry, Inc. (FFCCCII) hosted its 34th Biennial National Convention at the SMX Convention Center from April 3 to April 6, 2025. The event brought together more than 170 Filipino-Chinese chambers of commerce and business associations from across the country.

This year's theme, "Technology, Innovation, and Entrepreneurship: Keys to Prosperity," highlights the transformative power of modernization, creativity, and enterprise in shaping the economic future of the Philippines. For over 1,000 years, the Filipino-Chinese community has played a vital role in the country's progress through trade and cultural exchange, fostering social harmony and mutual growth, and contributing to a legacy of philanthropy and nation-building.

For over seventy years, the Federation of Filipino Chinese Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Inc. (FFCCCII) has continued its tradition under the leadership of President Dr. Cecilio Pedro, a visionary industrialist and philanthropist. He introduced the motto for the 2024 FFCCCII 70th Anniversary: "Dugong Tsino, Pusong Pinoy," which translates to "Chinese blood, Filipino heart." This motto reflects the community's unwavering commitment to the prosperity of the Philippines.

Guided by Confucian values of benevolence ( "ren") and righteousness ( "yi"), the federation combines business leadership with social impact through various initiatives. These include Operation Barrio Schools, Filipino Chinese Volunteer Fire Brigades across the nation, calamity relief efforts, and advocacy for inclusive growth.

Following the successful opening ceremony, a dinner was sponsored by PBB’s Chairman Emeritus, Ambassador Alfredo M. Yao, at the Gloria Maris Shark’s Fin Restaurant in Pasay City. Mr. Carlos Oliver L. Leytte, PBB’s Head of Retail Banking Segment, delivered the welcome remarks, opening the program with a warm and pleasant reception.

On behalf of Amb. Alfredo M. Yao, PBB’s Chief Lending Officer, Mr. Arlon B. Reyes delivered a speech discussing the evolving landscape of banking. He emphasized that banking innovation has progressed beyond simply digitizing existing processes. PBB itself is being transformed by cutting-edge technologies that optimize efficiency, enhance security, and improve customer experiences. Customers now expect seamless and personalized banking solutions, prompting financial institutions to innovate while ensuring compliance and security. Mr. Reyes concluded, “As digital transformation accelerates, banks like PBB must balance leveraging technology with maintaining trust among their clients.”

PBB was represented by officers from various departments including Retail Banking, Lending, Treasury Marketing, Investor Relations, and Corporate Affairs.
